Richard "Dick" Steinheimer, noted Western railroad photographer, passed away at age 81, May 4 at his home in Sacramento. Dick had a multi-page spread in the first issue of TRAINS that I bought, July, 1955. Dick's work frequently appeared in TRAINS over several decades and he also had some of his own works published. The notice of his passing was in the Boston Herald, 5/24. RIP Mr. Steinheimer.
