Any thoughts on Davey's effect on MBTA and DOT passenger rail and rapid transit durring his time running these agencies?

I think he did a great job and has an impressive handle on what transportation needs this state has. The only thing I don't like is that as his career as Transportation Secretary progressed, he had to back up the governor, sometimes for absurd projects (South Coast Rail). I personally don't get the impression that he's sold on something as crazy as South Coast Rail, but of course he had to back up the governor on it.

Also Logan, Hanscom, Worcester Airports, container terminal, and lots of piers and real estate including boston seaport district stuff. The runner up was head of Miami-Dade public works and transit, but doesn't appear to manage the port or the airport.

Maybe Mr Davey can figure out how to get a freight connection to the container port (without any space for a train yard, lol), passenger connection to the cruise ship terminal, bulk cargo terminals and/or car terminals that would be railroad served.

Wasn't it Davey, under the Patrick administration, who sealed the initial deal for the purchase of the replacement Chinese built Orange Line & Red Line cars?

No one at NYCT lasts at the top for more than three years, at least in the last 15 years.
