The WW&F Railway, Maine Narrow Gauge, and Boothbay Railway Village are all partnering together for two weekends of steam in January. The dates are January 1/14 & 15, and 1/21 & 22.

125 year old WW&F #9 with her Russian Iron Boiler jacket, and Monson RR #3 will be the stars of the show, pulling different consists through out the weekend, and even a rare two engine train at some point during the weekend. There will be a series of photo run bys and train meets allowing a rare look into Maine's narrow gauge past. The session will start at 9 a.m. on Saturday and run till 4 p.m., and then on Sunday 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tickets are limited to 50 people, and are $400 per person for each weekend session. A special night time photo shoot is scheduled, and due to the limited spots available on that is an additional $75. A box lunch is available on Saturdays only for $15 supplied by a local vendor.

Potential bonuses may include a B&SR Box car if the restoration is completed in time, as well as our new turntable if it is able to be used at the time of the event.

Tickets are selling fast, so to ensure a seat reservations are highly recommended sooner rather than later. Please email us at [email protected] for more information or to make a reservation. All reservations must be made on or before 12/15/16, and any cancellation must be made on or before the same date, 12/15/16. All proceeds will help all three organizations continue restoration and preservation efforts as well as continued growth.

Here are two videos of this years Spring excursions. Two of the big differences with the winter excursion in January will be a second historic Maine engine, and a second train as well as being able to turn the engines.

EXCITING NEW UPDATE

On 10/10 the WW&F turned #9 for the first time in 83 years. This wonderful and yet remarkable moment means exciting news for our winter event.

We have decided that with our turntable now in service not only will we turn the engines during the event, but we will extend Sundays operating plan for those who wish to hang around after the train gets back in. There will be some yard scenes with the two engines, as well as scenes with the engines at the turntable, etc. This will be extra special and a once in a lifetime chance to photograph Monson #3, and WW&F #9 together on the turntable tracks.

Once again seats are still selling fast, so please reserve your seat today to ensure a spot.

It has come to my attention people are a little concerned with the 50 person limit. I will point out that on Saturday it will be two separate trains and Sunday will be one train with two separate photo lines allowing for different angles on the runbys.

The group will be split in half, to allow for manageable size groups and photo lines. Feel free to send a email to [email protected] if you have any comments or concerns. The second weekend has very few people right now, so anyone concerned with size might consider the second weekend.

Again this will probably be the one and only time to photograph #3 & #9 together in the winter.

Due to a few reasons, seating has now been limited to 30 people per weekend, and the operation plan will be slightly different. However, photographers will still be able to photograph two trains per location on Saturday, and on Sunday we will run a 2 engine train. If you have not yet made your reservation, and are considering attending, please be sure to sign up as there are only a handful of seats left. Both weekends are scheduled, Monson #3, and B&SR coach 11 are scheduled to arrive in the next month or so. During the event the engines will be turned on one or both days, allowing for new views.

The railroad is entirely secluded and all abutting properties and crossings are private property of our neighbors and we ask people not to use them.

First Winter Steam Weekend was a huge success. The two engines put on a great show. Four different trains ran on Saturday, and Sunday there was a 7 car train with a rear pusher. Then 7 cars with each engine separately, and as a grand finale we put the two engines together for a double header.

Tickets are still available for the second weekend, Jan 21 & 22. Weather looks good, and there may still be some patches of snow. To make a reservation please email us at [email protected]
