Does anyone know how many Railroad heavy lift cranes are left ?
Alot of Railroads now hire out to private contractors to re-rail rolling stock and you very seldom hear of a railroad hook being used.

Guilford still has at least one "big" crane, as well as several smaller ones. The really huge one is based at Waterville.

The Indiana Railroad has at least one, but I think two. The Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society has one, and I think IBCX (Indiana Box Car) in Connersvile IN still has one, ALL operable. INRD uses the one in Indy often to change out wheel sets and prime movers.
