The classic yacht like ship at the Columbia Yacht Club on the Chicago lakefront is actually a former railcar ferry.

This was CN’s “Abegweit” which shuttled passenger trains and freight cars across the 9 miles between Cape Tormentine, New Brunswick and Borden, Prince Edward Island from 1947 until 1982.

It’s been beautifully restored by the Yacht Club.

Funny you should mention that... On one of my lay-overs between runs downtown I walked past that ferry and thought it did look like a car ferry...Very interesting.
