Does anyone know who owns the rail line that is oos that travels along the CA coastline thru Loleta and Eureka and how to contact the owner? As far as I can tell it's a mess of private and gov't ownership and nothing has used the rails in decades.

North Coast Railroad Authority owns the line, which hasn't seen a train north of Willits since 1998. There are supposedly plans to make it a trail, and it would be quite the undertaking to make the line usable for freight that far north again due to the scope of repairs, and constantly required upkeep.

Here's a really informative blog post about just how bad of shape the line is in, and this was nearly a decade ago. Ol' boy hiked 55 miles of it with his friends.
