While fishing this week between Perkinsville and Wayland I came upon an old, abandoned red brick building on the Lackawanna right of way about a mile or so west of Wayland. It's in the middle of nowhere between two swamps.Because of it's fairly large size , construction, location ( right off the right of way ) and distance from anything I could only think it must be connected with the railroad. There were some old wooden structures behind it in the stream ( a water pumping station ? )Does anyone have any information on this structure ?
I think you are referring to Mill Creek.
The Shawmut (PS&N) terminated around that point and there was a
yard for transfer of freight (mostly coal from PS&N to DL&W).
The Shawmut passenger trains operated on DL&W tracks for the last 1.1 miles from that point to the
Wayland DL&W station.
Shawmut had a wye a bit closer to Perkinsville.
