30 years ago this month “VIA CN” (as it was known then) ran an Exhibit train across the county to display their recently refurbished equipment in the new “Blue” scheme.

Here’s the consist I recorded in Halifax on January 13, 1977
6765 FPA4
6617 F9B
15468 Steam Generator
5525 Coach
9630 Baggage
Essex Sleeper
1361 Diner
Entre Nous Lounge
5727 Day Niter
Burrard Sleeper Buffet Lounge Observation

-The baggage car was located between the coach & sleeper and used for displays.

-Burrard is an interesting car. It (along with Bedford) had an open end observation platform. Did VIA use these cars in scheduled service? The only time I ever saw them was on #111 & 112. The thru trains between Toronto and Halifax that ran only during Christmas 1980. These trains operated across the State Of Maine and ran non-stop (except for crew changes) between Kingston and McAdam and by-passed Montreal Central Station. Burrard and Bedford were used as crew accommodations on these trains.
