I understand that this n.g. line from Juniata near Altoona to Dougherty was converted to s.g. in 1916 with the intention of extending to Patton and a connection with the NYC. It was going to be wired up as an interurban, but went bankrupt in 1918 and junked the following year.

Does anyone know if they made a junction with the PRR in the Juniata area, or was there ever an extension to a terminal in downtown Altoona?

For those interested, here are the passenger stops for the n.g. line:

Juniata, Coleman, Ivyside, Gwyn, Parks, Juniata Springs, Homer, Wopsononock (original terminal), Richland, Highland, Walker, Dougherty.

Do you have Richard Adams' "THE ALLEY POPPER": A HISTORY OF THE PITTSBURGH & SUSQUEHANNA AND ITS PREDECESSOR COMPANIES? There is some coverage of the Altoona Northern and its predecessors in this nice little 76-page softcover book.

Yes, it did. See the historical.maptech.com map of Altoona, SW quadrant. The most northeasterly of its lines was the site of the connection. It's a bit ill-drawn on the topo map; at the very end, it curved southwesterly to connect to the PRR where the topo draws it perpendicular, according to Sanborn maps. The PRR kept a bit of this line as a siding after the abandonment of the Altoona Northern.
