Quick question.

About a year and a half ago, I was dragged to upstate NY with my old man and some of my siblings. Our destination: Cooperstown, NY for the Baseball Musuem.

Anyway, to make a long story short, I was wondering if any of you can tell me where this is.

We stopped off overnight at a local inn and we went to a local fair in the town right nearby. The inn was directly across the street from a fairly active line and was within about 10 minutes of Cooperstown. When we left the inn and arrived in the town, we parked the car and walked to the fair paralleling the tracks. Along the way, we came across the station for the town and it was converted into a bar (with a Railroad scheme IIRC.) This would be within the general area of Cooperstown. I suspect it might have been on the Bridge Line.

I know it is a bit of a long shot, but does anybody know which town this is?

Cobleskill has the Sunshine Fair for Schoharie County. Cooperstown is in Otsego County, but fair in Morris isn't near the Bridge Line.

^Thanks both. I used that site and looked up Scholaire and Ostego County. The station at Cobleskill in Scholaire looks awfully like the one I saw. I think that is it. And the fair was right near the station but on the other side of the tracks. I was looking at Mapquest yesterday and was wondering if it was indeed Cobleskill. And this just seems to support that it was. Anyway, thanks for your help!

Cobleskill isn't 10 mins. from Cooperstown. By any chance did you stop at Milford, which is 9 mi. south of Cooperstown and the home of the Cooperstown & Charlotte Valley RR? Btw, there is one inn directly opposite the Milford Depot and one ~1 block east on Main St.

Both the freight and passenger stations in Cooperstown are still standing
and in good shape.
The freight station is the present headquarters facility for Delaware-
Otsege Corp and the New York, Susquehanna and Western.
This is the building (it has been added on to in the Delaware-Otsego days)
that lies between Main Street and Glen Avenue along Railroad Avenue.
The old passenger station is a beautiful stone building that was built by the
Delaware and Hudson many years ago to blend in with the village of
Cooperstown. This building was turned into a residence soon after the
end of passenger service sometime in the early 1930's. As of the summer
of 2003, it was for sale but looked in good shape. The location for this
building is north of the crossing at Main Street and the tracks have not
gone up that far for quite a number of years. I have both exteriod and
interior pictures of that building when it was still in use and it was
considered an attraction in old time Cooperstown guide books.
As you go on Main Street from the center of town up to the railroad tracks,
the entrance road to the old passenger station swings off to the right
beyond Nelson Avenue but before Railroad Avenue. I must remind you
that this is private property. I do not know the current status of this
building.
When Delaware-Otsego first got possession of this line, they ran excursion
trains using the steam locomotive presently on display at Cooperstown
and they modified a portion of the old freight station for passenger use.
