ZS: The Bethlehem Branch north of Lansdale (24.4) to Telford (mile 31 is just
north of Telford on the Bucks County side of County Line Road) has two intact
tracks with one in use and limited to 10-15 mph due to condition.

Passenger service north of Lansdale ended in Summer 1981 (38 1/2 years ago)
with the tracks suffering from deferred or no maintenance since.

The two-track right of way is still intact - one or both tracks would have to be
totally re-laid for restored passenger service.

EPRY uses the Telford Middle (a three-track segment north of MP31) to lay up
and/or store freight cars on the route.

The SEPTA Forum has other past topics about proposed service to Quakertown.
With the line abandoned north of Quakertown (Shelly?) towards Bethlehem any
service towards the Lehigh Valley would need funding from PennDot and Lehigh
County for restoration.

There are other topics about the Bethlehem Branch in two other forums - the
Reading Company (Fallen Flag section) and Pennsylvania Railfan...MACTRAXX
