Thanks for posting that. I was looking for some reference to New York Central, I have no idea what a "Ellwood Engineered Castings 70 Ton Locomotive" is.

The NYC e-8s 4068 and 4080 have been owned by and at the Medina NY RR Museum for over two years now. Their operating debut is scheduled for later this Summer.

NYC RS-3 8254 is at the Mohawk and Hudson Chapter in Albany NY. Still in AMTRAK black

Also at Albany NYC 2510 U25B still in CR paint

There is another NYC E unit in Nashville wearing a custom paint scheme and one at TVRM in Chattanooga and one owned by the United RWY Historical Societies of NJ

It is a shame what passes for preservation, this sure doesn't.
Too bad the equipment did not end up with a group that could assume responsibility for it and insure its preservation.
It is pretty obvious that the Mohawk and Hudson Chapter either could not or did not care to. This also casts a black eye
when a railroad is considering a donation to an organization. This stuff could have found a good home a few years back.
It might be too late to really save any of it at this point.

Are you sure that Amtrak painted the RS black? I would assume it would be MOW Orange. The black would have been from Penn Central, nee New York Central heritage. The last scheme for these guys was black with white lettering, yellow handrails and cigar band logos on the nose with numbers beneath the windows.

None of the AMTK RS-3s were MOW Orange (aka "Pumpkins"-- the GPs). All were black, some were still in the PC paint coat, but many were painted black by AMTK, as the PC paint was pretty wretched by the late 70s. It was simply easier to paint them black right over the existing grunge.

It's always nice for me to see the NYC Alco road switchers because that's mostly what I worked on, as a roundhouse laborer in North Bergen, for a few months in 1956.

Did any B&A locomotives survive? I mean those marked as B&A as the railroad and not NYC marked that traveled to the B&A.

Yes, there is a B&A 4-4-0 at St. Louis. It was built at West Springfield in 1870.

Belvidere & Delaware River RR GP10 1856 was at CSAO's Pavonia Enginehouse Saturday on its way to Winchester & Western South Jersey Division in Bridgeton. BDRV 1856 was built as GP9 NYC 5911 in 1955.

NYC 513 is now on display at the Youngstown Steel Heritage Museum and is undergoing a full cosmetic restoration, but unfortunately for NYC fans will retain her EEC paint scheme. We are hosting an open house on June 8 and the cab of the 513 will be open for visitors.

Rogue Valley Terminal Railroad is the latest incarnation of the old White City Terminal / WCTU Railroad in Oregon. They operate an SW1, WRIX 1001, which is reported to be NYC 609 (2nd), NYC PC CR 8435, later the shop switcher at GE Sayre as their #2, and other uses since that.
