I'm wondering what Pennsy's fastest freight schedules
were like during the 1920's-50's. When did PRR start
offering 2nd morning service between New Jersey and
Chicago, for example? Were Pennsy's schedules faster
than NYC? I know that the PRR LCL schedules provided
2nd morning service (about 31-32 hours) as of 1960
(departing mid-evening, arriving pre-dawn 2nd morning).
I also know that the TrucTrain schedules that were
introduced in 1955 were far faster than the LCL
schedules.
