Still waiting for confirmation, but it looks like this is ex-MEC 259. Two MEC GP38s shipped out from North Billerica to Brookville a few months ago; it's quite possible that this is how one of them ended up:

So there remains the rare possibility that an original MEC locomotive may someday see preservation. Who'd have thought it?

There already is a MEC locomotive preserved and still running. CSRR 573!

I noticed the dynamic brakes were removed in the conversion. Does this mean that dynamic brakes cannot be used on a tri-engined locomotive?

Maybe the dynamic brake grid was moved to a different location, or maybe there wasn't room for it.

Upon closer viewing of the photos, it looks like the dynamic brake section was actually moved to the rear of the unit.

Here is another shot, this time in action:

Ol' 259 has been sold to Central California Traction Company and is now their #2101, painted in an attractive red and white paint scheme:
Railfan & Railroad wrote:Central California Traction Co. has purchased former CoGeneration demonstrator locomotive No. 259 from Brookville Equipment Corp. of Brookville, Penn., and numbered it 2101. The former Maine Central GP38 uses three Cummins QSK-19L gensets for a total output of 2100 h.p. and has dynamic brakes which are effective from 55 m.p.h. down to .6 m.p.h. This is CCT's first low-emissions locomotive.
