anyword if the 2 45's will be returning anytime soon?
And it sure would be nice to see some new SD70ACe's in black and gold. maybe a heritage unit in the silver and maroon or silver and green that the alco's wore.

Railroads do not care what color the engines are that get the freight from point A to point B. In business you care if you get paid for your services and efforts. Railfans worry about what color the paint is.I disagree with that. Look at Norfolk Southern and CSX. If railroads don't care about the engine color, then why are those two companies in a big hurry to ensure all former conrail blue engines get painted over the sooner the better. I read CSX wants all blue engines painted over asap and NS isn't far behind with that too. So to say railroads don't care about the color... NS and CSX sure do. (I'm not arguing forgive me, just making a point) As far as leased engines, yes, railroads don't care only because they need that power and since it's not theirs they can't paint it over. But any power the railroads actually own themselves, they usually paint them over.

They are sitting in a DEAD LINE awaiting evaluation or disposition. I love the SD45's, SD70's and F45!! None the less, Delaware Otsego Corp. has a job to do, and if it takes lease locomotives to do it, then so be it!!
Steve F45 wrote:not counting the 70's. But all the tunnel motors were fully rebuilt in 2006 aswell as I believe both 45's. Were they rebuilt that bad that they are already shot?April 2006 - SD40T-2 3012 arrives in Dansville for rebuilding, the first of the NYSW Dansville rebuilds. was already in yellowjacket paint, so not repainted there.
Steve F45 wrote:scotty, all the units that went to dansville were repainted except for 3012 for some reason or 3016. I can't remember which of the 2 tunnel motors didn't get repainted. But the 45's did also.Three units not repainted at Dansville, 3012, 3016 and 3618 (SD45)
Steve F45 wrote:scotty, 3012 or 3016 was definitely repainted in dansville or in bingo after rebuild. It came back all nice and shiny and with a black cab roof. those 2 units had white painted roofs from in house painting. And 3618 I thought was painted in dansville, it did eventually get a freshening up in bingo i think just on the cab and nose.Steve,

3614 was so stripped of parts that it wasn't financially viable to rebuild it according to AMP, but 3018 and 3022 were just shells sent there and they got rebuilt.
