I recently saw that Alco S2 1261 received the maroon and gold paint sceme at some point. Were there any other Alco S series on the B&M roster that got the maroon and gold sceme and does anyone have any pictures of them?

according to James vanBokkelen
860 - 865: Alco S-5 (1954), class DS-6b
delivered in maroon/gold, most later rebuilt to 1000 HP & renumbered.
These were later rebuilt and re-numbered 1280-83

Four ALCO switchers were re-painted in the maroon and gold. They were ( S-1) 1163 (S-2) 1261 (S-2) 1264 (S-2) 1265.

Three photos per post is all you can upload, so here is the 4th.

Thank you for the great shots. The photo I saw of 1261 was taken a year or so before it was taken out of service and the yellow paint had bled through the maroon badly enough that it was tough to tell what the paint originally looked like. In these shots it appears that the paint job is just a variation of the pattern B&M used on their Alco RS series locomotives (the horizontal stripes on the hood are lower than on the EMD SW switchers and sweep up from the front of the hood rather than on the side). It also appears that the majority, if not all, had silver painted trucks.
