Ticket sales for the March 27 IRM Snowflake Special are going quite well....we're just into the second week of March and half the six car train is sold out already. Internet ticket sales are far outselling mail-ins. The Special has publicity posted here, on Chicago L.org, on several forums, on the CTA Tattler. The newspaper announcements are still to come, so if you are "on the fence" don't wait to long. There is a drop dead number where sales will be cut off. Thanks to all who are on board already.

I suppose it goes without saying, but orders placed before March 19th are appreciated by those of us at the museum. Those orders will be mailed to their recipients, who will have them in-hand upon walking into the Forest Park terminal on March 27th. All orders recieved on or after March 19th will be held by the museum for pickup by the purchaser on the morning of the trip, to ensure no mail delays prevent the tickets from getting to who bought them. We always do this, but in the event of a "severe weather morning" (see: 2009 Snowflake Special), the more people with tickets already in-hand, the better. (the 2009 Snowflake was characterized by starting in the midst of an unexpected snowstorm, which delayed most attendees and caused a few more to miss it entirely)

The museum has always brought along any unsold tickets on the morning of the trip for cash-only sales, and this year will be no exception, if there are tickets left. At the current rate tickets are being sold, it's a toss-up as to whether there will be any day-of sales.

And for those planning to ride the Blue line to Forest Park on Sunday morning, now would be a good time to give the trip planner at the CTA website a "test spin." Scheduled arrivals at Forest Park on Sunday mornings are at 8:31am, 8:19am, and 8:07am. On the trip planner, click on "arrive", then input the date, then which train you want to come on (8:31, 8:19, 8:07) and the "END" point (Forest Park). Your "START" can be a CTA bus or "L" stop, a Metra or PACE stop, or even your home address. The computer will do the rest, including asking for clarifications of your START and END points. Now you know what time to set your pet rooster, LOL.
