I'd be interested to know if any other names in the PATH system have changed?
World Trade Center used to be Hudson Terminal and before the H&M moved operations to Newark Penn, there used to be Park Place in Newark up until 1937.
But they were prior, different terminals rather than renamings.

I know. Just was rambling off closed/different locations of former stations.

So, the signs on the walls still say "pavonia newport", but several column signs have been removed, ad replaced with UGLY oversize "NEWPORT" signs, in the newer "PATH blue". One or 2 of the columns had no sign, just marks where the original smaller black signs used to be. I think this money would be better spent fixing up the mold dungeon of a station vs fiddling with signs.
