How were these delivered from the various manufacturers. Over the rail network via what connection? Car float to where?

Similar question about R-10.

Also, when did these cars start being used by the BMT and not just the IND? I think I remember but I'm not sure.

The R-1s techicly debuted on the BMT, the city wanted them tested out and the IND wasn't ready.

the cars were float transfered between divisions until the culver cut opened.

For the ACF built cars, they went from the Berwick, PA plant on the DL&W, via Scranton and the Cutoff to Hoboken and were carfloated to 207 Street.
