I am new to this forum;
I was wondering if there were any Maine Central or Boston and Maine Steam locomotives that used Vanderbilt tenders, or if there is another website that might help answer that question. I have been asked to paint/decal an older locomotive with a vanderbilt tender in either MEC or B& M scheme. I appreciate any help members may be able to provide...

I know the B&M had Vanderbilt Tenders on a few of the locomotives. Unfortunately all my notes and photographs are in storage, but I know someone here can better answer the question and with some pics. I do not know if the MEC had these Tenders or not.

An interesting question. I flipped though my references,which admittedly are not as extensive as others, and I am fairly confident that for the MEC the answer is no.
For the B&M the answer is in my estimation also no, with this notable exception (scroll to the bottom of the page in the link)

As you will read in Mr. Ozog's caption , these engines were only on the property for a few months, and not owned by the B&M.

edit to add, some of the R-1s had huge, kind of boat hull shaped centipede tenders.

B&M leased several Erie Mikados with Vanderbilt Tenders for a few months, but these were the only Mikados used by the B&M and the only locomotives with Vanderbilt tenders. The tenders on the R-1d are the same as that of the Big Boy, Challenger, and NYC Niagara.
