I was reading an article about the new IKEA that opened in South Philly on Columbus Blvd. this week. The article said it was built on an old rail yard that used to serve the port in that area. Anyone have an idea who's yard it used to be? I know Reading had one in the area but not sure exactley where.

Think it used to be B&O / CSX.

Never been to the IKEA there, so I'm not sure.
But if it's on the river side of Columbus / Delaware Ave, it might be Municipal Yard. It might also be the Produce Terminal Yard. Not sure if that's still there.

I believe the IKEA is on the site of the Perishable Products Terminal, built and operated jointly by the RDG and B&O, and opened in 1927.
