Was reading through one of the Yahoo Groups related the NYS&W and read a post that J.J. Young Jr passed away today. He was in his late 70's.

Mr. Young's photo's were some of the first pictures I remember seeing as I was getting into this great hobby of railfanning years ago. I never had the privilege of meeting the man but through his photography he opened up the world of railroading to all of us.

The legacy he left will be enjoyed by all who love trains.

I was very sorry to hear this sad news. John was a wonderful person and one of the finest photographers our hobby has seen. Hopefully with the passing of time he will be given more widespread recognition for his superb writing and photography.
