What's the heritage and history of the LAL's wooden caboose? It's a neat piece of equipment, I only had the opportunity to see the car once, when it came out of storage in Lakeville.

BR&P 252, built 1918.

Later B&O C2603, used in Rochester in the early 1960's.

At some point after B&O sold it to a private owner the interior was rebuilt - I believe following a fire. I was told once the rebuild was done by Western Maryland RR but can't state that as absolute fact. The rebuild did not follow original dimensions but at least it's still around. For many years LA&L track crews used the caboose on Saturday work trains.

Interesting! It looked like a B&O/BR&P caboose, but I couldn't be sure. Thanks for the lead!
