First of all, thank you for giving me a place to ask my question: a thoughtful way of accommodating people like me who are basically just bewildered about some railroad item.
And here it is: this railroad workers' chapel I photographed (http://penelope.uchicago.edu/Thayer/E/G ... /home.html) is not in the US, but in a train station in Italy — but rail equipment must be pretty much the same everywhere? At any rate, can anyone tell me, either onboard or via e-mail, what the various pieces of rail equipment are?? I've spent a lot of time browsing thru pix and railroad websites via Google, but so far no luck at all. And naturally, the readers of my own site realize perfectly well that what I know about is churches and Roman ruins; so I'd better credit you guys with any answers....
[6/29/09: I edited this again; somehow it wound up retitled "Railroad chapel cars" — but this isn't a car, but a chapel in a train station, designed in large part around railroad equipment.]
