The Star Ledger has an article today about several 80 year old railroaders getting together to talk about the old days. Many of these guys signed on in the 1930s and 1940s. They fought in WW2, worked steam and diesel, saw the railroads in free fall, etc.
Firing steam engines, climing out on icy coal piles, pulling pins, they did it all.
