NYCTA Tests 11-car F Train

Regarding 11 car trains, how do they do that with R160's? These cars exist in 4 car sets and 5 car sets. That means that a train can only be 4,5, 8, 9, or 10 cars long unless some of the drawbar attachments are actually semi-permanent with a 6 car trainset being created in the shop.

Thanks for confirming that the R-160 car links are semi-permanent. However, I would like to point out that you didn't address in the previous link how the carsets would be manipulated - only what car numbers are expected to be involved in the experiment.

You have to reed up on 160 car number sequnces.

9372-9371-9370-9365-9364-9363+9357-9356-9355-9354-9353

99.9999% ofthe time, 160s are in order in a set. all you need are the first two cars to tell which cars are in the set.

the sets were 9372-9368/9363-9367/9357-9353 with cars 9369,9368,9367 and 9366 removed. 2 A cars and 2 B cars.
