I'm sure that more pictures will come forth in the coming months, once these beasts start being delivered to their new owners.

Here are a couple of photos of the units while they were still under construction (side and rear shots):

Here is some info on the MTU 12V4000 engine that is used in this locomotive:

I was just wondering, are these going to be used for Work-Train service, or are they going to be used for Branch-Line services on the New Haven Line? If so, I guess it will be interesting to see another possible locomotive builder in the US Market for passenger/commuter trains.

The BL20GH is for both, worktrain and passenger branchline service.
It has the MTU12/4000 for propulsion and a Caterplillar C-15 for HEP.

Seems like a good locomotive for the job. Don't need a SD70, PL42, or a Genesis for Branch-Line duty. I also have wanted to see what this locomotive would look like, and finally a picture. It definately looks utilitarian. I do like the idea of more companies to bid on these projects, but are we seeing a repeat of the Dieselization of the 1950s? We had several builders, and then by the end of the decade and a half, it was down to just GE and EMD. Now there is a plus for MotivePower, Brookville, NRE, and RailPower, and that is that they are tackling markets the big guys will not touch, and filling a need for those markets as switchers get older, and diesel regs get tighter.

Here is more pictures from the testing of BL20GH in Pennsylvania.

Here are some photos of the first unit in revenue service:

These appear to be very versatile locomotives -- a wise choice in today's economy. They ought to be significantly more fuel efficient than the units they're replacing.

Another BL20GH has left the shop, this time in Metro-North paint:

Those two units left Brookville on July 3th.

I heard the new one on the Metro-North broke down on its first revenue and had to be assisted by a FL9.

There have been problems , but so did the Genesis, DE/DM30, FL-9ac , PL42ac, AEM-7, ALP-46 etc.
Nearly every engine new in technology will keep failing till its fine tuned.
In 1958-1960 the FL-9 were trouble prone as well and nearly canceled.
So don't believe all you hear and only half of what you see.

Well, there are now twelve BL20GH locomotives on Metro-North property with the 115 just delivered last week..six for CDOT, and six for MNRR so far with rumors of more to come. As of now these locomotives are a lot more reliable than when first delivered. Quite an impressive locomotive.

I hope they can sell more, it does look impressive.
