Hello all, new here, I had a couple questiosn with regards to the Dreyfuss Hudsons. When did they get the "Centipede" tenders and did the Font change on those tenders or did they use the original style lettering? Also, did they receive the 39-40 style narrow striping? Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

The following information is from the NYC System Historical Society's Central Headlight, Vol. XV, No. 3, 1985.

Four streamlined hudsons received PT-1 tenders in 1943.
Capacities: 17,500 gal; 43 tons
The rest received PT-3 tenders in 1944 & early 1945.
Capacities: 18,000 gal; 46 tons
Later some were re-equipped with PT-4 tenders - same capacities as PT-3.
The Niagaras were equipped with PT-5 tenders.

"The main reason for building the PT's was to reduce the number of stops for coal made by main line trains between Harmon and Chicago."
