For those of you who ride the PATH regularly you might have noticed that the mid-meadows crossover, just past the KEARNY bridge overpass and next to the CSX diesel locomotive terminal, has vanished!!!!! The odd part is that the signals, switch machines, ties and even third rail crossover stubs are still in place. Does anyone know if this is periment? Did PATH just decide that that interlocking was unecessary? Have the turnouts just been temporarily removed for repair? I am unaware if the interlocking just past the old HUDSON flyover allows trains to cross over in both directions. If it does not PATH will have to wrong rail from that interlocking east of HACK and that's quite a ways to go.

The pair of crossovers at "Grape" are probably gone for good as the pair of turnouts at the east end of the center siding west of there are now in service. There has been some balast dropped at the old crossover site, and we will probably see the present stick rail replaced with welded rail after the switch ties are replaced.
