Wasn't sure where to post this, but since it's next to Amtrak's Penn Station I'm putting it here.
Prices are a little high, but it's a nice view (for some of us)

Looks desirable. :-D The rent prices aren't desirable though.

Amtrak Forum Moderator's Note:

This has been moved to Worldwide Railfan, because all over the world, there are great apartment/condo complexes with views to the mainline, terminal, or shops.

In my hometown of Kansas City, here's one:

The Stuart Hall warehouse is just north of Union Station KC, and has a superb view to the mainline of the old Santa Fe (now BNSF) and the UP. There must be 100 + movements per day on this line, including 6 Amtrak.

You know, I'd think it would be cheaper to live next to a railroad...how many people want to look out onto tracks? I guess more than I thought with the prices in KC or Baltimore.

One unit of these condos a few blocks from my house has a window that sits about 10 feet from Track A on the NEC. It feels like you can reach out and touch the NJ Transit locals. I took one look out the window and said "I could sit here for hours in my easy chair with my scanner in one hand and a nice glass of scotch in the other." :-D

I like the sound of it ! (I'd probably throw in a nice cigar to boot.) The nice thing is that probably your average person would not prefer that, so perhaps the price would be less for that unit ? We railfans sometimes do have an advantage ! :-D

My ex Gf had a house 1 block away from the main trunk line . i could see the trains through the neghbours yard . i guess if she lived one block closer we'd probably be still together !
