Before C-day on 4/1/76 I'm told that the DL&W yard in Scranton and main were still active. After C-day, CR just abandoned everything. Did the yard and sit there derelict for a decade waiting for something to happen and eventually Steamtown? Was there any activity at all?

The Scranton diesel shops were used by Conrail for at least a few years after C-day. http://crcyc.railfan.net/locos/emd/sw900/lv128shop.jpg

I believe the mainline east from Scranton through the cut-off was used for at least two years. The line west from Scranton used by the D&H as a detour route on several occasions before being purchased from Conrail.
