Hey all...

I am an advid commuter railfan/photographer, and will be traveling to Miami soon, staying downtown and having no rental car.

Does anyone have any advice or information about railfanning in the area? Where to catch some good shots, take a nice commuter ride, etc?

Thanks for any help!

If you had taken the time to go to trip reports you would have found a
rather long entry that I put on there regarding trips to South Florida.
Rather than try to type that again here, I will provide you with a link.
One major word of advice, do NOT trespass on railroad property
especially on the Florida East Coast. Have a good trip and be safe.

I am not sure that is a good idea, believe the crossing is surrounded by
private property and the two railroads will take a dim view of trespassing
on their property. Not a really safe area either even if the police do not
show up, you might wish they did.

When taking Tri-Rail a couple years ago I remember waiting for FEC to cross in front of us at IRIS. Thats was the first time I ever had to do that there.

When I rode down there with "F-40" a few weeks ago, we had to wait
southbound for an FEC van train to pass by. I was glad to see the train
but upset because we missed the next northbound out of MIA by 20
seconds.

I'm going down there next week. Going to ride Tri-Rail, Metrorail, and Metromover on 9/12/2007.
