The Amtrak Website indicates that the Auto Train, Meteor and Star, along with the Carolinian north of Raleigh have all been cancelled for today (6/2) and possibly tomorrow, "Due to a freight train issue near Selma".

Any one out there heard of a cause for this today?

Coaltrain derailment on A line and other line slow ordered by FRA due to track defects.

That poor conductor! A yardbird who got called off the yard extraboard to protect the freight pool. Hasn't ridden on a train at more that 10 mph since he marked up little over a year ago.

Knuckle busts, train in emergency, crappy rail, you do the math. That section of track has been slow ordered as low as 10 mph in the last year or so. Engines stayed upright. I think once the knuckle was replaced and the train back together, they still weren't getting air back up on the rear, so the cdctr started walking. Don't know what speed they were working on.

The engineer is a fresh face behind the throttle. Only 6 months or so flying solo. Nobody's fault but the company, though. Tracks just aren't being maintained like they should. Train crew is clean as a whistle.

Better a coal train than an Amtrak.
