• Will Rohr's get rehabed like Breda 2's and 3's?

It would be nice to see the Rohr's get the updated look and electronics. It would also be nice to see Metro lose the Brown stripe. The 70's are over.

the rohr's were actually overhauled extensively back in 1994/95 when they hit their "mid-life", but unfortunately, they didn't get the fancy colour treatment that the #2 and #3 coaches are getting right now. at the time of rehab they only still had the 1970's McDonald's look and didn't possess the "rainbow colours" the newer models (except the #4s) have.

This is because METRO couldn't afford to do an extensive overhaul.

We are having problems on the bodies of the 1000s. They are cracking and distorting. HVAC is being overhauled on them but a full restoration is not going to happen on them.

They are too old and should be retired from service. Metro didn't take care of them very well. The '70s are calling and want those car back!

I know, just like the MBTA Boston's Red Line 015/1600s which were build prior to the WMATA Rohrs

The 1000s mechanically are fine believe it or not. Just some stress cracks appearing on the body.
No way to retire them now-they are needed and replacements for them are years away.

They are set to be retired in 2012-thats when the lease is up on them

Metro is testing one set of Rohrs at New Carrollton to see how stressed the bodies are. This special train will be running on the Orange line tomorrow but no passengers will be allowed on it. Look at the B car on the end doors-you will see sensors on the outside of the body along the threeshold on the left side.
