what happened to the nose of 6242? 6242

I dont know how that could of happened. It looks like it couldnt be a derailment becuase the damage is too little. Vandals?

It looks like amatuer bodywork on an automobile, except they didn't bury it all under an inch of bondo.

Has the handbrake on this unit been changed from original perhaps? I'm guessing from the slotted battery box cover this is a former Chessie unit.


Given the thickness of the steel in a locomotive body, a vandal would have to use a jackhammer to damage it in that manner.

CSXT 6242 began life as B&O 4343. Here's a photo that sorta kinda looks like that bulge in the short hood has been there for a while:
