General discussion about railroad operations, related facilities, maps, and other resources.

I have references for a book that I am working on talking about the railroad signals used being "Blake" type.

Can anyone help me out with pictures of this type of equipment? I did a Google search and came up empty, and I can't say as I've heard of them.

Thanks in advance.

Dave - Might the reference be to "blade" type signals - eg. vane or semaphore signals?

The article on early railroad signalling here might be helpful: http://www.du.edu/~etuttle/rail/sigs.htm

Bob, good question. I put the "Blake" in quotes because, I guess, it could be that. I have never heard of this line having semaphores, though, and "Blake" was capitalized twice in the article. I have been assuming that it's a proper name...soi I'll just wait a bit longer I guess....

Thanks, Bob. I do appreciate it.
