Here is an old Penn Central Properties "FOR SALE" sign at Norwood, NJ These signs sprang up like toadstools all along the River Line right of way after the creation of Conrail in 1976. The reason for the signs was that Conrail only got enough property to run the railroad. Any excess property was retained by the Penn Central Corporation and sold over the years. This is one of the very few or maybe the very last sign of its kind in existance as I have not seen any others in my travels. Its hard to believe this sign has lasted for over thirty years!! Just a note so that nobody gets confused, a clarification needs to be made.

There were two trains that day. V80410 southbound in the afternoon consisted of 100 empties for loading at the Port of Philadelphia. V80411 northbound in the early morning consisted of 98 loads of imported low-sulfur coal from Venezuela. The coal was a test load to determine if the resulting energy is worth the cost of the imported black diamonds, versus the traditional loads from Newell, PA.

The power turned from V80411 to V80410.
