If you are referring to interior lights aboard the trains, in normal operation on the main line no. When crossing over at some but not all interlockings where the tracks are on 15' (4.5m) centers one car of a married pair will momentarily not have contact with the third rail. The last time I recall being aboard a train when the light went out when passing through one of these interlockings was over 20 years ago, but then I haven’t used metrorail on a daily bases for as many years.

All mentioned above is right. The only thing you'll sometimes notice is silence when crossing over or running through gaps. The hvac and blowers momentarily shut down...
