I am heading up there for a mini vacation with the family and was wondering if there were any good rail sighting place or something to do with trains whether its a hobby shop or what.

Thanks

Well, I guess there's always the Boothbay Railway Village, but I assume you already knew about this: http://www.railwayvillage.org/

Maine Eastern runs several round trips a day between Rockland and Brunswick. They can be ridden or photographed. If you're around on the weekend, the WW&F Railway Museum in Alna (wwfry.org) is running steam.

You can also stop at the Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad Co. and Museum on the way up as well as the Seashore Trolley museum in Kennebunkport

Given any one choice, I'd head for Sheepscot and go to the WW&F! Considering there was nothing there but weeds 20 years ago, it's a pretty spectacular thing to see. It looks as if the original line was never scrapped.

-come to think about it, it probably looks even better: the original line was never this well maintained...
