I noticed that there are no pocket tracks east of Ft. Totten to turn Yellow Line trains around when the extension starts this January.

How are they going to turn Yellow Line trains around at Ft. Totten to go back to Huntington.

WMATA will use the double crossover that is 1783' east of the center of the station platform.

Little known fact; Short turns can be executed at any double crossovers, and can be programmed in to the train schedules.

Generally WMATA prefers to use pockets tracks for short turn terminals. Being that this increased service is only being done during off peak service hours, the turning of trains in the double crossover east of Fort Totten will have little or no affect on the existing Green line schedule.

All of the routes through any main line interlockings can be remotely controlled by manually setting the destination codes. Most of the time the sign boxes will display NO PASSANGERS when manually setting the destination code to control a main line interlocking.

Fort Totten has had destination codes that will control both interlockings and display FORT TOTTEN in the sign boxes for both upper and lower levels for three colors (Red, Green, Yellow and now Blue) sense the first Rohr Car were delivered from Winder Georgia.
