The Lyons job doesn't use the caboose to shove into ADM at Fox Ridge, it would be on the wrong end of the cars and be stranded. It's left on the main here and used only when shoving into Jordan when the weather is foul and the conductor doesn't want to get wet. Your right it is about a mile shove. But usually the conductor on this job hates handling extra cars and work and whenever it's fairly decent he rides the cars. Sometimes they shove to Newark to service the OMID if they have no work on the West Shore. Up till 2 years ago this job used to shove from Genesee Junc. to Chilli Ave. to service Suburban propane requiring crossing 2 highway crossings. But they no longer receive cars. A Rochester Local will sometime use a caboose to shove to Fairport over 10 miles, at night, and over highway crossings. Or shoving to Pixley Rd in gates, NY to service a customer, at a facing point.
