Does anyone know of any railfan clubs out there in Ohio? I've been looking at the 20th Century Club out in Chicago, and I'd love to belong to something like that here, whether it be in NW Ohio or the Toledo area specifically.
Are there any such groups? If not, would there be enough interest in one to try an organizing process?

chessie8212,
Check out the Akron Railroad club and the Midwest Railroad Historical Foundation for starters.
Also, take a look at the NOARS website.
There are all sorts of groups out there!

Ironically, I was thinking the same thing this week.
I looked into NRHS chapters and the closest ones are Brecksville (Cleveland) and Detroit Metro.
I have had some local encouragement to look into starting a chapter and I already know a few people who would gladly join.
That's a great idea! I never thought of starting a local chapter for the NRHS. I could get a handful of people that would join, so I don't think that 10 people would be hard to get around to get started.
I'm definately interested in that approach. I never thought about it.

I've contacted the NRHS regarding establishing a new chapter, and should be getting the information packet in a matter of a week or so. I have, myself included, rounded up 4 people for sure, possibly 5. The NRHS requires a minimum of 10 members to establish a new chapter. I would imagine that there are enough folks out there interested.
What do you think? If you're interested, please go to this link and add your name to the list I've started.
I have signed the petition and would be quite interested. If we do start a chapter we would have to get it up BEFORE December 17th (I Believe) The years final Toledo Modelers Train Swap Meet at the Lucas Co. Rec. Center
