Read about a railroad planned inthe late 1970s by Deleware Otsego System called the Kingston Terminal (KTER) railroad, but no other details except that this transaction never came to pass. Anyone have anymore details?

Reporting marks filed: KTER Kingston Terminal R.R. Corp. added 7/80; eliminated 10/80
Owed some taxes: parcel 37.00-03-02.000 Kingston Terminal RR 1999 $32,000 2000 Land $26,000 2000 Total $32,000 0 843 6 according to the Preble, NY tax data.

My understanding is the KTER was created to operate the approx. 5 miles between the River Line and Hudson Cement in East Kingston. Conrail had been supplying coal to Hudson Cement, but lost interest when the line was severed to construct the 9W bypass. Hudson Cement went under, removing the only customer left on the line before KTER could begin operation. The City of Kingston took ownership of the r-o-w and now leases approx. 3 miles of it to TMNY.

By the way, the timing of events was such that when 9W was built, it severed the former U&D line, but Hudson Cement was still down the line as a potential customer, so the DOT built a railroad bridge across 9W. Then Hudson Cement closed before the track was reconnected across the bridge. The "million dollar bridge" is still there, with no track on it.

Just a FYI....Delaware Otsego Corp was named designated operator of this line in 1979 by NYSDOT.
