I was headed through Java Center toward Arcade this morning. There was a train parked next to Conroy's.

Coming around the building I expected to see one or two of the GE switchers, but I was met with a shiny black end-cab switcher! Something "modern" by A&A standards.

Thought they couldn't get across Welch Rd trestle with anything bigger than an 80-ton...

Any ideas what the new addition is?

After a bit of digging I came across an article from Trains magazine. It's an Alco RS3M, formerly WNY&P #406.

Funny, it's the locomotive WNY&P uses as the promotional photo for their "About Us" web page:

Yes, they acquired the engine over the summer. It was recently repainted and last weekend took its turn pulling the passenger excursion trains.
