Bad and Good News!
The bad news is that 56 cars will be scrapped and the good news is that 2 are set for preservation at the Canadian National Railway Museum. It would be good to preserve these, but in the end, no agency in the states would need these. Here is a news article!

S5: Here is what I think should be the best current application for the MR-90 car fleet:
MBTA for the Boston-Providence-Wickford Junction (NEC) Line after full overhaul/rebuild...
Removing their "governors" allowing higher speeds would be a main change example...
They already use 25 KV AC in Montreal-Deux Montagnes commuter service for CTCUM/REM...

A "captive" MU fleet would allow the MBTA to move their push/pull cars to other routes and to
expand service to the South Coast (Fall River/New Bedford, MA area) as one prime example...
This MU fleet would cost MBTA a fraction of what new MU cars would run and would boost
service on one of MBTA's busiest Commuter Rail routes...Scrapping the MR90 fleet is a WASTE...

Now that you said that they would be a perfect fit for that line on the MBTA but the only thing that I just keep wondering is about the load of passengers on a high-level platform since the outer doors are low levels and the center is high level only

S5: No problem...Using the center doors only at high-level platform stations on the MBTA Providence Line -
South Station, Back Bay, Ruggles, Forest Hills, Route 128, Providence, TF Green Airport and Wickford Junction.
End low-level platform doors at other intermediate stations on the route...

RIDOT is looking into extending MBTA-contracted rail service west to Kingston (high-level platforms)
and Westerly (low platforms) for a possible link point with Shore Line East in eastern Connecticut...
RI/CT NEC commuter rail service would be an interesting future service improvement...MACTRAXX

"IF" they fit, compatible with all requirements including ADA, and spare parts are not a problem then get them for Providence line as soon as possible. Then add CAT on Fairmont line. That of course if GO does not want tem!
