Pertaining to all railroading subjects, past and present, in New England

Unlikely to happen, as the federal grant money used to create the trail extension prohibits use of motorized wheeled vehicles. NHDOT apparently found out that the existing stretch from the previous trail start was funded the same way, so those rigs now have to go a half mile or so up the road along Industrial Park to access the network up there. Whitefield has a robust sled trail network, but that's kind of a moot point with the ever decreasing snow levels up here.

Lisbon NH just approved to have OHRV's on certain roads, the trial for road use on Industrial Park Rd in Littleton did end, so now there is no access to the rail trail in Littleton and you can only access the trail from Lisbon, Bath, or Woodsville, truly an inconvenience for many people

That's not true.... You still access it off Industrial Park Road, just further up the road around the corner where the trail crosses the road. Road use is simply over for the year.

Per NH Bureau of Trails via their facebook page posted this on October 18, 2022
AMMONOOSUC REC RAIL TRAIL (Littleton to Woodsville) PARKING LOT/TRAIL ACCESS CHANGE

As of November 4, 2022, riders can no longer unload their ATVs/OHRVs at the Industrial Park Road parking lot in Littleton. No riding will be allowed on the road from the lot to the rail trail as of that date. This road connector was open this past season on a trial basis which has ended. The Bureau will be working to gain road access again in the spring.

Utilize other parking lots for direct access to the rail trail. There is one in Lisbon off Central Street/Landaff Road; look for signs.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Are they no longer sending hoppers down to Hazen for offloading? What about the car storage business in Whitefield? 2019 was the last shipment to off load a hopper at Hazen's and I think 2016/17 is when the last cars in storage were pulled out.

This comment was per Fritz on Twin State Railroad forum; The only online customer (Presby Plastics) has been sold to another company and, as far as I can tell, they no longer receive covered hoppers of plastic pellets by rail.

The hoppers have apparently been unloaded at Presby's Cog building in Berlin off the SLR, where they used to be spotted during the winter. Maybe it's an agreement with the sale of the business to Infiltrator Water Technologies. Last car noted on the FB group was dropped early AM on 11/8, no idea if any have been spotted since.

Goddraug wrote: Wed Mar 22, 2023 12:47 pm Out of curiosity, NHDOT pays for these tracks right? Not NHCR? I know that it's frowned upon to isolate railroads like the CSRR, but that's a lot of mileage for the occasional equipment move.
The state purchased the rail line years ago. NHCR leases the track from the state. Im pretty sure the only thing the state pays for, is maintenance.

As noted on the Conway scenic thread, a baggage car is likely in the Stratford area, which will be interchanged for delivery to Hazens and Conway Scenic at some point. If anyone gets a heads up on the timing of the possible move, please let us know. Thanks!

Don't forget, they've got the ex-RBBX car up there as well, it'll look like a passenger service coming through town... 😂

The dome that came last fall left Groveton in the early hours before sunrise, maybe something similar for this run.
