Hi Folks, I gather, I can claim a very belated: Happy New Year... OK, here we go with a bit of a pre(amble). This page list started as "What's New" 14 years ago in July 2009. Too bad, I didn't document it back to its primal beginning in 1998/99 or so, but...

I have 110 items for January and a number of special items to review as follows:
http://www.trainsarefun.com/lirr/lirrwebsiteupdate.htm

http://www.trainsarefun.com/lirr/lirrex ... 20&%20Wide NEW SECTION High & Wide loads 1/16 Please advise additions/etc.

http://www.trainsarefun.com/lirr/lirrtr ... ps1962.htm PAGE UPDATE 1955 and 1962 Track Capacity Maps 1/13

http://www.trainsarefun.com/lirr/Ticket ... et%20Cases NEW SECTION Ticket Cases 1/11

http://www.trainsarefun.com/lirr/eastpo ... eplacement NEW SECTION 2017 Rail replacement at Moriches Blvd., Eastport 1/10

AND Yes the NEW PAGE http://www.trainsarefun.com/lirr/GSM/Gr ... adison.htm NEW PAGE Grand Central Madison 1/31

As GSMadison is the current newest hot topic: Chime in with some tickets scans, new schedules, info on the art work, or whatever seems current. I will start that topic as Grand Central Madison

As for the empty timetable racks, LIRR stopped publishing timetables as printed media by March 2020. The online
schedules and PDF timetables are the official timetables.

There is a special opening day only timetable (1/25), the MTA website has since pulled it off, but I have a PDF copy.

R36 - Correction - The LIRR issued and distributed their last public Branch timetables in March 2020...
That set of timetables was dated March 9 to May 17, 2020...As we remember "The Problem" developed during
that same month of March 2020 in earnest...The last printed LIRR timetables were the May 18 into July (not sure
of exact date) 2020 which were not distributed to the public - some became available internally and have been
obtained by some outside LIRR rail enthusiast organizations such as LIST-NRHS and RMLI...

The LIRR was already looking to cut printing costs before "The Problem" began remembering the sheer amount
of folders and cards that were issued for a variety of reasons with the best recent-year examples being the special
timetables that were issued for various aspects of the Main Line Third Track Project...The reasoning for cutting out
printed timetables of all types was that a large percentage of LIRR riders got this information from the Internet or
schedule apps - and no longer used or needed any printed schedules...I would have liked to have seen the LIRR
(and for that matter MNCR - which also discontinued their printed timetables) to have adopted a compromise to
print a limited amount of Branch timetables at *major schedule change times only*...instead the MTA went to the
other extreme of eliminating printed timetables over all of their agencies during the remaining course of 2020...

Steve (and R36) - The initial Grand Central Madison Branch Timetable is available here:
https://new.mta.info/agency/long-island ... timetables
Look for "Grand Central Direct Shuttle Service Effective Thursday January 26" near the bottom of the listings.

Steve - The GCM-Jamaica Shuttle Service timetable should be included in your Grand Central Madison page
if at all possible being that this is the first public LIRR GC timetable that was made available by the MTA...

Steve - Getting back to the original subject this update for the last two months was one of your most extensive
site updates that I can recall concerning LIRR history - and I personally THANK YOU for your services herein...
This is an ongoing wealth of information concerning all things LIRR as we are all well aware of...MACTRAXX
