CSX Acquisition of Pan Am Railways

Not necessarily, because many will not be inclined to move to a shortline that is not even the owner and may or may not be around in 5 years. Not only that but lose any seniority that may be dovetailed into the CSX System when agreements are ratified.

Just as important is CSX as of September had not revealed just what the ST replacement labor agreements are going to look like. Kinda hard to go one way or the other if you don't know what you're getting into.

It really isn't. Employees are already generally unhappy, jobs have been cut and people who were holding decent jobs are back on the board for the first time in a decade. If they did it that way I guarantee the people forced onto the road that was not of their choice would just straight up quit. People are in general tired of the games, it's not hard to say goodbye to the former Pan Am property for anyone working their currently.

From what I've been told the new labor agreements have yet to even be bargained for. The B&E was the first thing to get sorted, and they haven't finished it yet. Until they do they won't go to the table to replace the ST contract.

Yepn that is what I was referring to. If ST employees are going to have a B&E contract to consider (if they're going to move over) but don't have even a draft bargaining agreement from CSX its going to be difficult.

Just checked CSX Job Opening postings and, in addition to Conductor positions at W Springfield and Framingham, there are two non-operating positions looking to be staffed at N Billerica:

Field Investigations Specialist: Investigate all events that arise out of the operation of the railroad and other subsidiary entities on an assigned territory:

Primary Activities and Responsibilities:
- Respond to and investigate events that occur as a result of railroad operations that may involve bodily injuries
- Assess financial exposure and control outcome of events
- Develop event resolution plans and assist in the litigation process
- Enhance the CSXT reputation by promoting our safety culture internally and externally
- Assist employees injured on the job

Environmental Field Services Supervisor- Northeast Territory: Conducts inspection, provides training, and ensures best management practices are followed to maintain compliance with environmental rules and regulations such as the Clean Water Act (CWA), Clean Air Act (CAA), Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Emergency Planning and Right-To-Know (EPCRA) and the Solid Waste Disposal Act (SWDA). Manages operation of wastewater treatment facilities and wastewater discharge monitoring and compliance. Oversees day-to-day environmental compliance for an assigned field territory including meeting with regulatory community, interacting with Operations and acting as a liaison with the local community. Conducts and participates in facility compliance reviews and implements identified corrective actions.

Primary Activities and Responsibilities:
- Account for regulatory compliance and inspections that fall under the CWA, CAA, RCRA, SWDA, and any state or local regulation
- Manage operation of wastewater treatment facilities
- Manage environmental projects such as property cleanup, collection system cleanup, wildlife control, and capital projects.
- Manage disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous wastes
- Manage fixed facility spill response and assist with other environmental incidents.
- Meet with regulatory agency representatives, CSX Operating personnel, and local community members concerning environmental issues
- Provide training to internal personnel relating to environmental regulatory compliance.

WRT PAS job postings by B&E and NS trackage rights crews over CSX, there are none.

No reason to post the jobs if the work hasn't started to rebuild the connection yet...

B&E is going to start operations before that connector is rebuilt. Well, they hope to if the labor crap is ever sorted out. The stacks will continue over PAS as they are now until that is done.

The more germane answer is: they currently have 0 employees so it is very hard to tell what to advertise, if they will even need to do so once the ST labor force is split. Remember, B&E expected to operate with less jobs than the ST did because of operational sharing between the other GWI northeastern properties.

58 jobs lost, 3 engineer jobs gained, net 55 lost in the transition from ST to B&E on PAS per CSX's STB filing with half of those planned losses MOW positions as CSX and NS will use their own MOW crews for some of that work and with another quarter of the lost positions trainmen.

Hearing lots of interesting rumors lately involving the PAS side of things. The Borg possibly having second thoughts?

Came from Star Trek. Borg is an alien species that assimilates every person and technology it captures. G&W assimilates every short line it acquires into corporate colors (orange) and I understand operations are assimilated as well

I have no insight whatsoever into labor conditions at g&w. I can say they keep their track and paint in very good shape
