I have just received information about a proposal from the PArk 7 Group regarding the redevelopment of the area surrounding the Riverhead train station. This includes moving of the current Riverhead RR Museum of Long Island to the opposite side of the existing LIRR station, while the existing site would be redeveloped as a parking lot.

Here is the full proposal...

PF: Active members of RMLI - including myself - have received information about the Town of Riverhead
seeking redevlopment proposals that MAY involve the relocation of RMLI from its current location.

The PArk 7 plan is just **ONE proposal from ONE contestant** in this competition for a "Master Developer"
to redevelop the Riverhead Railroad Station area.

At this time - June 2021 - there is NO firm plan that has been approved for ANY changes to the RMLI site
in Riverhead.

RMLI President Don Fisher - who is an active member of this Forum - can add more insight on this topic.

MACTRAXX, you hit the nail on the head! Good reply, very accurate.

Nothing is written in stone yet, the competition is in "process" with the Town of Riverhead. PArk 7 Group LLC must win the competition first and then the approval process for their proposed redevelopment of the area around the Riverhead LIRR Station will begin.

We are sure local news outlets, including NEWSDAY, will publish feature articles about the competition and proposals that are received by the Riverhead Town Board. It will all be public information going forward. The RMLI wants its members to know about PArk 7 Group LLC's submission before seeing it in the newspapers.

As the competition moves forward and a "Master Developer" is selected we will provide more information as it becomes available.

Stay tuned,

Glad to see they are not saying "Move out!", but are relocating.

Gentle Forum Members,

As a follow up to this June thread, last week we had our first face to face meeting with the twelve member committee in charge of selecting a winning developer for the transit oriented redevelopment of Railroad Street in Riverhead.

There are four competing development groups vying for the opportunity to improve the property surrounding the Riverhead LIRR station. This first meeting was a "get to know you" meeting with brief presentations of proposals followed by Q & A by the committee members.

Ultimately, the committee of residents, business people and civil servants will make a recommendation to the Supervisor and Riverhead Town Board who will select a winning development team.

Don - One question: Do any of the other three redevlopment plans keep RMLI right where it is now located?

As we know RMLI has a good site and relationship with neighbors in Riverhead currently...MACTRAXX

Everyone - Spoke to RMLI President Don Fisher today 7/27- he mentioned that **ONLY THE PARK 7 PLAN**
will relocate RMLI from the current Riverhead site. ALL of the other THREE redevlopment proposals have RMLI
"staying put" as was explained to me. This is certainly good news to many RMLI members that would like the
Riverhead museum buildings and grounds to remain the same...MACTRAXX

Yes, MacTraxx is correct. The other three competitors in the redevelopment plan competition do not move the RMLI to new quarters. One other developer has suggested a science or children's museum for the first floor of the new building. It is unknown to me what the other two developers have planned.

All of this is very preliminary. We are sure there will be media articles written as the competition moves forward.

Everyone - A Riverhead Station area redevelopment plan has been selected: (February 10, 2022)
https://riverheadlocal.com/2022/02/10/r ... velopment/
The winning plan chosen over six other finalists was submitted by "RXR Realty/Georgica Green Ventures" for a
Master Redevelopment Plan for the Riverhead Railroad Station area (which is adjacent to the RMLI site north
of the LIRR Main Line track on the east side of Griffing Avenue - which will not be affected in this plan).

The most noteable changes to the station area looks to be the new buildings proposed for what is now parking
lots south of the station and a new parking garage with street-side retail along Griffing Avenue from Railroad Av.
(S of the LIRR tracks from the RMLI site) which will be across from the nearby Suffolk County Courthouse.

RMLI Riverhead will remain at the current museum site - I also noticed no mention about any changes to the
railroad yard on the north side of the Main Line track with the various RMLI and Twin Forks equipment stored...

There will likely be more information forthcoming about this redevelopment plan being released soon -
The good news is that RMLI Riverhead WILL be "staying put" as is...MACTRAXX

Good to hear that the museum and its collection is still intact. Makes you wonder if the railroad is considering increasing frequency to Riverhead if they're building that many town houses around the station. Maybe for service with battery powered M7s...
