Infrastructure is popular right now on the GOP side of things - and a gutting of the recently passed bill would not get thru the senate - and possibly not even a GOP house either nor would Biden even entertain such a thing. Priority for blue collar working class jobs has become a recent priority for the modern GOP - this is not the same Republican Party as when Clinton and Bush were in office. It’s very hard to predict what will come.
This bill was not particularly controversial - most of the GOP objection related to concerns about this leading to the other much more contentious “human infrastructure” package.
